Welcome to DeVaney Elementary School!

I’m Michelle Nutter, and I’m entering my 16th year as principal of DeVaney Elementary. Welcome to our school family. I’m so grateful to serve this amazing community. It’s an honor to lead a school filled with dedicated staff, curious learners, and supportive families. Once a Dragon, always a Dragon!

At DeVaney, we believe in nurturing the whole child. Ours is an intentional journey to build a school where every child feels safe, connected, and eager to come to school. Being at school each day gives students the opportunity to learn, discover their talents, and build meaningful relationships. Here today, ready for tomorrow!

This year, we will continue our work on the High Reliability Schools framework—a research-based model focused on continuous improvement of both staff and students. Through our growing collective teacher efficacy, collaborative teams will gain clarity about what students need to learn, how they will know when they’ve learned it, and how they respond to the data. Together, we are poised to build a culture of shared accountability and increased student mastery of standards.
